Scoring

Numeric Evaluation

Turn story feedback into bounded values that can be compared across scenes.

What it does

Evaluations such as relevance, tension, resolution, awareness, coherence, conflict, pacing, and custom metrics are normalized into scene frontmatter. The system favors structured numeric output over long-form critique.

Why it matters

A writer can see whether a scene is carrying the narrative load it is supposed to carry, then compare that signal against nearby scenes.

  • Scores are stored under the scene's ai: frontmatter.
  • Built-in metrics provide a starting set of repeatable story measurements.
  • Custom metrics can add project-specific lenses, including scene-only craft questions such as Poetics.
  • Rationale behavior can be constrained for supported awareness metrics.
  • Saved values become durable source material for later review.
